Hello friends, and welcome to EmmaBird Writes!
This website has been in the works for a few months, and it’s finally here! I couldn’t be more excited.
Allow me to introduce myself - My name is Emma Goldstein, and I am a 22-year-old writer from NC who has loved books my entire life. In addition to reading and writing, I adore painting my nails, listening to music, petting cats, and spending time with my family. I enjoy white wine, sunsets, and long walks to the local bookstore. I am synesthetic, which means I see colors when I hear music, so I also spend a lot of time imagining people dancing dramatic waltzes to my favorite instrumental songs in flowing dresses of whatever color I think the song represents.
My favorite authors are Sarah J. Maas, Jodi Picoult, Jessica Burkhart, Stephanie Perkins, and V. E. Schwab. They’re all badass female writers who challenge me to write better, and I could not be more grateful for the community their books have built.
I’ve spent this summer digging deeper into my creative well, both through professional writing and editing for a book review app called Booky Call and my current Work-In-Progress, a novel I started when I was studying abroad earlier this year, tentatively titled The General’s Promise.
One of the things I decided to do with my newfound creativity was start a blog for the community I know is out there but haven’t quite found yet- people like me, trying to get a foot in the door of a publishing house, battling their own imposter syndrome, and reading anything with words on it. I made this site for writers, readers, and dreamers like myself - people who know that there are words in their hearts that the world needs to hear.
So, here’s how this is going to work - I am going to publish an article every Monday morning at 8 AM EST about something reading or writing related - how to write certain scenes, brainstorm sessions for my book and other future projects, signed book giveaways, a battle of the Sarah J. Maas book boyfriends, monthly roundups of the books I’ve read, interviews with published authors, and more.
I'll be posting a teaser for my article every Sunday on my Instagram, @emmabirdwrites, so be sure to follow me over there to get updates on what’s happening! Also, consider subscribing to my blog to get emails whenever I post, plus other announcements and exclusive content! I have some extremely exciting things lined up that I can’t wait to tell you about!
If you are a writer who wants more writer friends, a reader who wants to fangirl (or fanboy!) about your favorite book, or just someone who knows me and wants to keep up with me and what I’m working on (hi, Mom!), you’re in the right place. Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
